Operation Rewind

If you hadn’t seen someone for twenty years, wouldn’t you want to look your best for the reunion? That is exactly the predicament I recently faced. Facebook reunites me with friends from my past, and lucky for me, one was was planning a trip to Vegas. We conversed for months making plans to meet for lunch while she was in town.

Although I dragged my feet for a while, by April Operation Rewind was underway. I needed to recapture my youthful glow!

Step 1: Exfoliate.
I’m a big fan of Bobbi Brown’s Beach Scrub. Alas, my wallet is not. I was able to find a new creation, the Bobbi Brown Sandbar. Quick Review: Bobbi, your sandbar hurt me. The sand was so rough it was akin to rubbing cut glass on my legs. A bit harsh? Yeah, so was your sandbar until the sandy layer washed away after only two uses. Now I am left with a 1″x2″ bar of beach-scented soap.

My first and possibly 2nd layer of skin removed, I was now ready for …

Step 2: Self-Tanning.
Jergens Natural Glow for Fair Skin turned me from translucent to pale without a hint of orange. I still have my Chanel face tanner from last year, and slathered that on too. Slightly bronzy facial skin achieved.

Step 3: Teeth Whitening
Found Crest’s Premium Whitestrips under my sink and said, “What the heck.” Noticeably whiter teeth after three uses.

Step 4: Pedicure
No funds for the local nail salon, so I clipped, filed and painted my own toes. Rocking OPI’s – Sweet As Annie-Thing! from their 90210 Collection.

Step 5: Wardrobe
Grabbed a lovely Forever 21 sundress from my closet, a gravity-defeating Victoria’s Secret strapless bra from my lingerie drawer, comfy Havaianas flip-flops, and I was good to go!

Unfortunately my friend was not. Her hotel overbooked and bumped her to another resort, causing her a lot of stress. Thus our lunch plans went kaput.

I hope her travels bring her back to Vegas soon. I’m not sure how long the effects of Operation Rewind last.

• How do you bring sexy back?
• Are you reconnecting on FaceBook?
• Are you cool with plans changing at the last minute?

  1. Last fall before I went to Australia I lost some weight and then bought a series of spray tans. The day before I left I went for my last one only to discover the machine was broken. They sent me to their other location. I went into the booth and the machine malfunctioned and shot out the liquid in a single stream at my legs. I came out with the stuff dripping down my legs. I tried to wipe it off but the damage was done. I left on my trip with striped legs. Yay me.

  2. Brenda

That’s a bummer the hotel did that to her! I bet you look awesome!!!

  3. Deanna

Hey Jean! It sounds like at the very least you had some fun doing your rewind! Well, except for the skin removing bar. lol

A few guys from my high school are planning a school reunion for July for people of any age who attended our high school. I considered going, but the guy doing most of the planning was always kind of an ass, and he still seems to be. It’s turning out to sound more like a beer party and pig roast than an actual mature party for grown ups. I’ve decided that there’s a reason I haven’t seen some people for so long.

After looking at the guest list, there’s really nobody I want to see enough to try my own rewind or to spend 50 bucks for, especially since I don’t drink or eat pigs. lol

Glad to see somebody is still blogging! I haven’t blogged in ages.

  4. Oh, Kristin, striped legs?! I’ll bet that was a memorable trip… for everyone!

Thanks Brenda. The anti-aging effects have already worn off. This was a few weeks ago. LOL!

Hi Deanna! Great to see you. I was very jazzed about the rewind. Sounds like a good call avoiding that “reunion”/beer bash. See you on FB. 😀

  5. I would have been mad. lol 🙂 I did all that work…for what? 🙂 Oh yeah, for me…that’s right. So, I am sorry it did not work out with your friend, but I am happy you took time for YOU! I am sure you will look cool and hip the next time one of those friends roll into town. Until then, have fun. Do not stress, You look marvelous. 🙂

Oh, I stay away from facebook! lol 🙂

  6. S. Le

You’re looking v good! How do you stay so trim?

  7. Joy

Bring “sexy” back?? I’m not sure I ever had it!! LOL!!

I have reconnected on Facebook and it’s a whole lot of run. So far, no plans to meet up with anyone so I’m not really sure how I’d react of what I’d plan. BUT…I would not react well to a change of plan. I hate change and don’t do well with it.

  8. I’m sorry you didn’t get to see your friend after all! My 20th reunion is coming up and I am thinking of doing all the same things you did! LOL. I’m so nervous to see everyone. 🙂

  9. Sunny Wishes She Were Shopping

I love the smell of Bobbi Brown’s beach collection too! You don’t need much help to look awesome, you’re naturally beautiful 🙂

  10. Sorry you didn’t get to visit with your friend Jean. That stinks, but hey you’re lookin great anyway I’ll tell ya that!

1.) I don’t know what I did with sexy, but I hope I find it soon. Sometimes work overshadows making myself feel sexy. I do like to use Microdermabrasions, and over the counter chemical peels. Although, I need to be more routine about it.
2.) I have a few friends on FB that I went to HS with but I don’t really keep in touch all that much. My 25 year reunion is coming up this summer but I won’t be attending since it’s in Ohio.
3.) I try to go with the flow, but if it was something really important I’d probably be really pissed.

  11. Hi S.Le – Yep, treadmill, or chasing the kids around. Mostly the treadmill. LOL!

Joy – I’m sure you had sexy! I hate change too, and huffed/puffed around the house for a couple of days.

Thank you, Stacy. It was very disappointing that she canceled on me. I’ll bet everyone will be so happy to see you at the reunion! You’ve got a handle on your sexy. 🙂

Hi Sunny! I love beach too! Thank you for the perfume! I still have it/wear it. Love you! Thanks for always making me smile.

Sherri – that’s the perfect way to describe it (it stinks). Yep, it reeked. Aww, thanks for the compliments though! Hmmmm… microdermabrasions. I might have to try that. Is it ok for sensitive skin? Sorry you will miss your reunion. I have missed all of mine. Yep, pissed @ canceled plans, for sure. Me too.

  12. Jean,

Sounds like you put the fab in fabulous! Woo!
I need to do all those things just to boost my spirits! Shaving my legs will have to do for now. Ha.

My BFF from HS lives a mile from me. She looks the same or better than high school. I think she found the fountain of youth. It’s unreal.

  13. Tasneem R

When did you took that picture then? You looking stunning !
I can understand but uncertainty is what life is all about .

    • LOL, Angelia! I’m trying to stay on top of shaving my legs too. Wow, your BFF is lucky! And you are too, living just 1 mile from her. 🙂

Hi Tasneem – That pic. is from 20 years ago when she and I worked together and went on a day trip to the Napa Valley. I was hoping for a new photo this month. 😦 Oooooh! Fashion Mantra! I’m all over that. Thank you!

  14. Jean, Jean JEAN! You are just as HOT if not HOTTER today than you were in 1990! You don’t need any of those fancy rewind chemicals. Your hot hot momma in my book! 😉

I’m sorry you and your friend didn’t get a chance to have lunch. That’s a real drag! 😦

  15. Your plan for Operation Rewind was awesome!
Sorry the reunion didn’t work out. At least you looked hot for a little while, right?

I have reconnected with tons of peeps on facebook from middle school to college. I have met up with a few, but I’m burned out on reunions now. I guess the newness wears off after a while.

  16. Gary – thank you!!! I’ll go with HOTTER! Ya, that’s right. 😀

Hi Tammy – Yep, I looked good briefly. I feel good now though as I’ve gotten back on the treadmill and lost 7 lbs. I’m glad you’ve gotten to reunite with some of your school friends. I’ll let you know if I ever get to reunite.

Jingle – Thank you for the awards. Have a great week/weekend.

  17. Cute post, I found myself making a couple of notes whiter teeth couldn’t hurt and toe nail nice color I could try that. I guess it’s time for me to bring my sexy back. It’s not to late? Facebook nope not on it blogging seems to capture most of my spare time. Sounds like you had fun. Great title operation Rewind.

  18. I’m sorry I just scrolled back up and read the kuput part coffee must have not kicked in all the way. ;+/ Well, hope you have a chance to again put into effect operation rewind then it really would be another rewind.

    • Hi Starla! Thank you. It is not too late to bring sexy back. Sexy is always there when you need it. 😀 Yes, it was quite a let down that she canceled at the last minute. I hope it’s not another 20 years before we have the opportunity or Operation Rewind may require actual surgery! LOL!
